Twilight

Twilight
by: Stephenie Meyer
(c) 2005

I can pretty much understand why it appeals to both adults and teens alike. Purely for the romantic at heart. Love conquers all theme. The heroine, Bella, is depicted as mature teenager. Sometimes you forget the fact that she's way younger than the vampire hero, Edward (Okay I guess if you're a vampire everyone else is younger). But towards the middle of the book you feel that she becomes "clingy" towards him which is pretty understandable I guess since she is still young and in the throes of her first love (or in this case everlasting love?). I still think that Bella is somehow still under some kind of vampire spell because for the life of me I don't find very pale men appealing (just my opinion).
Ms. Meyers presents another take on Vampires. Such as why they can't come out directly to the sun, how they transform humans into vampires and why some of them have special powers. She also integrates the myth/legend of the werewolves and vampires. Pretty interesting take.
The book is an easy read. I like the way the story was presented. You'll want to read the next one since this book merely lays the foundation for the whole story.
Just me,
