Musically inclined

It suddenly entered my crazy mind that I want to learn how to play the guitar. Nothing special i just realized that I liked the acoustic sound. My brother learned how to play one but he only likes hard rock or metal music which my ears totally detest. I know how to play the piano but it has been years since I last played the instrument. Besides, our piano is so old that probably all its strings are broken by now. When I told my sister about the guitar playing, she got this harebrained idea that she'll have voice lessons so that we can form a duo. She'll be singing and I'll be her accompaniment. After this I'll be researching on the net about guitars and guitar playing. I hope its not too late for me to learn how to play.

My favorite guitar book author for pop/rock/folk styles (as opposed to classical) is Arlen Roth, and my favorite (and first) book of his is "Complete Acoustic Guitar". It goes over many different basic styles (finger picking..blues..slide). He also has a separate blues book and a slide book, but the Complete book was a good one to start with. Good Luck!

By the way, I just happened upon your blog because I regularly read another blog, and out of curiosity hit the "Next Blog" button at the top a few times, and came across this post with the big guitar picture :-)
