Last night I found out that I killed an almost butterfly. As I was preparing for a bath, I noticed this brown spiky thing on the bathroom curtains. What I do know is this creature's (we call 'em higad) when it touches you will make you have a terrible allergic reaction. But I also saw that it had white-spiderweb-thingy spreading out of its hairy body. So all the while I thought that it was dead and a spider must have been preparing it for its dinner. Since I'm not ready to see this happen, I decided to take it out instead. Out of curiosity I asked my sister if she knows whether a higad actually makes a cocoon. She looked at me weirdly and said they have to since they are going to be butterflies. I was shocked I said a higad doesn't become a butterfly. She replied "Hello?! Haven't you read Hope for the Flower?". After that I became a little bit sad. I loved that book and turns out I killed hope.
So today I just had to research on this. I researched first on the translation of higad and it turns that a higad is a caterpillar. It sure doesn't look like any of the caterpillars I know. Turns out after I researched on the net that a caterpillar had several variety that's why we have several looks for butterflies. I found the closest for my higad under this site (Its the Diaphora mendica - I think). I didn't like to post an actual picture of the higad. Even some of my officemates didn't know this probably because we were taught that a higad is something to be afraid of. Well everyday you learn something new or old.
